We Do This For The Culture
While grounded in the story of the African American experience in Oklahoma, from past to present, and dedicated to serving the Northeast Oklahoma City (NEOKC) community in particular, Kindred Spirits is a concept born out of a desire to create a culturally relevant gathering place in the epicenter of Oklahoma City’s predominantly black neighborhoods and community.
Coming to OKC in Spring 2020, Kindred Spirits will offer a full service bar, cocktail program and flavorful snack selection, presumably never before offered specifically to tell the story of Black Oklahomans in such a universal method of (literal) consumption.
The inspiration for the name spurs from the book, Kindred by Octavia E. Butler. By way of food and sharing space, we hope to serve as a hub for black culture – which is so often overlooked and undersold – and celebrate in the spirit of opportunity, which our ancestors paved for this very moment. Our goal is to spark feelings of familiarity and curiosity, alike.
