We Do This For The Culture
Inspired by the novel Kindred by Octavia Butler, Kindred Spirits is envisioned as a place to connect the stories of our past with our present to inform our future. We acknowledge the collective trauma of 15 generations of oppression forms the basis of the African American experience but within that story we find the makings of a beautiful struggle. We want this space to be the intersection of a thousand stories of triumph over adversity. To create casual collisions and intentional gatherings that reclaim our history from those who thought they could use it to bury us and instead form the unapologetically black future that our culture needs and deserves. For us Kindred is about connection, connection to the intricately interwoven kinship that binds us, connection to our indomitable place in the unique story of Oklahoma.
Opening fall, 2020, Kindred Spirits will offer a full service bar, cocktail program and flavorful snack selection, presumably never before offered specifically to tell the story of Black Oklahomans in such a universal method of (literal) consumption.
Follow us on social media and stay tuned for entertainment and programming announcements to be made soon. We look forward to seeing you.
